Essex takes game one of the Western Conference final over Petrolia

The Petrolia Flyers will be down by a game when they return home for the second game of the PJHL’s Western Conference final on Sunday night at 7:30.
Essex took game one on Friday with a 4-1 home ice victory.
After a scoreless first period, the 73’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead, 8:12 into the middle frame. Ryan Richardson cut the gap to 2-1 with a tally with just over a minute to play in the second period.
Essex increased its lead to 3-1 with just over six minutes left in the third before icing the contest with an empty net goal in the final minute.
