The East Lambton Eagles are proud owners of prestigious red hats after capturing the under-15 Tier 1 OMHA banner in Halton Hills on the weekend.

The Eagles reached the playoffs with wins over Penetang, 4-1, Ennismore, 6-3 and Arran-Ernsdale, 4-3 in the preliminary round.

They rallied for five unanswered goals in the second period to beat Wallaceburg, 8-6 in the semi-finals and then topped the Huntsville Otters, 3-1 in the championship contest on Sunday afternoon. East Lambton led 1-0 after a period in the decisive contest and scored the eventual game-winning tally late in the second period after the Otters had tied the game. The Eagles added an insurance marker late in the third period.

The victory at Halton Hill capped off an incredible season in which the Eagles won both the regional and international Silver Stick titles, the Shamrock League banner and the OMHA title. The season was dedicated to coach Zakk Gurchin who passed away earlier this season after a battle with cancer.

There were also other teams from East Lambton as well as those from Petrolia, Mooretown and Lambton Shores at the provincial events.
