Canada votes today; polls open in Lambton at 9:30 am
April 27, 2025
After 36 days of campaigning, Canadians cast their ballots in the federal election today.
The polls open at 9:30 am in Ontario and are open for 12 hours for voting in what many experts say is one of the most consequential elections of our times due to threats from US President Donald Trump to impose crippling tariffs on Canadian goods and as he muses about turning Canada into the 51st State.
Cost of living concerns also dominated the election with all parties talking particularly about ways to bring down the cost of housing in Canada.
For the first time, Lambton in more than a decade, residents in Lambton are all part of one riding – Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong. There are seven candidates running to become the new riding’s MP; Jacques Boudreau of the Libertarians, Lo-Anne Chan of the NDP, Brian Everaert of the People’s Party of Canada, the incumbent, Marilyn Gladu of the Conservatives, Mark Lamore of the Christian Heritage Party, Tony Mitchell of the Rhinos and George Vandenberg of the Liberal Party.
When the polls close tonight, The Independent’s coverage of the results begin. Come back to our website to see who will lead the nation and who will represent Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong.
