Brooke-Alvinston is getting a big financial boost from the province to help fix the local arena.

The municipality has been staring down a $1.2 million bill to repair the ice making equipment in the arena floor. It applied to the Ontario community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund earlier this year. Earlier this month, Brooke-Alvinston was given the news the province would provide up to $1 million to pay for half of the project. The municipality will fund the rest.

The work is expected to begin in 2026, when the ice comes out and the goal it to complete the work before the ice is needed in the fall.
