Traffic is expected to be slow going around Mandaumin Road for a while.
Lambton OPP say the left lane of the westbound side of Highway 402 is closed as the Ministry of Transportation repairs the concrete there.
June 22, during high temperatures, the concrete buckled between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin. Tanya Blazia, senior media relations officer at the Ministry of Transportation says the incident this weekend is similar.
“Due to extreme heat, some pavement and pavement joints require repair resulting in the temporary closure of certain lanes of the highway,” she says in a news release confirming the pavement did buckle, prompting the lane closure.
Police say the partial closure is expected to be lengthy and ask drivers to use caution as they approach the area.
“Temporary repairs will be taking place this week and the highway is expected to reopen before end of the week,” Blazina added.
