Another Lambton County municipality has cashed in on a new provincial fund to upgrade recreation facilities.
Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey announced Tuesday St. Clair Township would receive $1 million for repairs to the Moore Sports Complex. The money is coming from the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund.
Officials from the sports complex, in a social media post, said the money will mainly be used in the pool area with upgrades including the replacement of the diving board, pool tank repairs, deck resurfacing, and improvements to the Pool Pak HVAC system for greater efficiency and reliability.
The cash will also help pay for new roofs in several areas of the complex, some brickwork and replacing the siding in some parts of the building.
The $1 million from the province is expected to cover about half of the project.
“For decades the people of Lambton County have enjoyed recreational activities at the Moore Sports Complex, this investment will ensure this important community facility is in great shape for years to come,” said Bailey in a news release.
“Our government is proud to support organizations focused on delivering better services for people while breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for children and young people,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport in the same news release.
St. Clair is the second Lambton community to receive help from the $200 million fund. Brooke-Alvinston was granted $1 million to upgrade their arena floor.
