Steadman joins Team Canada

Hockey Canada has named Rick Steadman an assistant coach for Canada’s under-18 summer hockey team for the upcoming Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Czechia and Slovakia.
Steadman, from Oil Springs, has been an assistant coach with the London Knights since 2014.
Previously, he was an assistant coach at the World Under-17 Challenge in 2023.
Canada opens defense of its Hlinka Gretzky Cup gold medal against Finland on August 11. The medal games are scheduled for August 16.
The evaluation roster includes Beckham Edwards and Alessandro Di Iorio of the Sting. Camp will be held next week in Oakville.
Meantime, players with local ties are currently at the evaluation camp for the under-17 national teams. The list includes Corunna’s Johnny McLaughlin of the Windsor Spitfires as well as Matthew Henderson of the Kingston Frontenacs and Eamon Edgar of the Barrie Colts. Both Henderson and Edgar have family connections to Petrolia.
