Long-time Alvinston Indians/Aces manager Paul “Chico” McCart has been given the Denny Bruckert Memorial Award by the International Softball Congress.
Bruckert was a skilled ball player drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He declined to play. But his fastpitch softball teams won many international and national championships. His proudest accomplishment in softball was being the head coach of the United States Men’s National Fastpitch Softball team.
The honour is given to someone who has love, dedication, enthusiasm and passion for the sports of men’s fast pitch softball.
Chico was presented the award at the ISC world tournament in Minnesota by ISC President Chris Santos.
The Glencoe native was “totally shocked” but grateful to get the award.
