About 300 farmers converged on Rutherford Aug. 7 to see just what their equipment does to the soil.
The St. Clair Region of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association hosted its first ever Compaction Day.
Farm equipment was driven onto sensors to see just what impact they had on the land beneath their wheels.
The John Deere X9 combine was the biggest piece of equipment that went over the sensors set up at Jackson Seeds. The combine was left to the end of the day due to its weight and was a highlight for those in attendance.
The day included live demonstrations, discussions about cover crops and tire technology and soil analysis.
