Bkejwanong’s Mitchell wins provincial golf title

For the third time in the past four years, Cheryl Mitchell has won the overall women’s title at the Ontario Indigenous golf championship. 

The Bkejwanong (Walpole Island) golfer had rounds of 76, 77 and 75 to take first place by 11 shots at the event at Six Nations.

Lucas Rogers of Kettle and Stony Point was third in the junior boys’ division and tied for 29th overall in the men’s division with rounds of 76, 80 and 85 and Lorne Smith of Bkejwanong tied for 39th in the men’s division with scores of 82, 82 and 84. 

Michael George of Kettle and Stony Point was 16th in the senior men’s competition with rounds of 87 and 88.
