Quite a thrill for Duncan Smith and some of his Sarnia Athletics Southwest track club teammates.  Smith, the reigning OFSAA high school and national U18 javelin champion was invited to throw with a pair of his heroes in London Friday.

Olympic Decathlon champion and Olympic record holder Damian Warner and World Decathlon champion Pierce Lepage asked the Great Lakes athlete to throw javelin with them as they to prepare for the World Athletics championships in Tokyo. Smith won the exhibition with a throw of 58.91 metres, nearly two metres farther than Warner. It was the third best throw of Smith’s career.

Barrett Hands of Corunna and Team Ontario are gold medalists in men’s box lacrosse at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Ontario ran the table at the tournament with a perfect 7-0 record including an 11-5 win over Team BC in the final on Sunday.
