OPP presence increased for Labour Day weekend

August 28, 2025

The OPP say they’ll be out in force for the last long weekend of the summer.

As of mid-August, 214 people have died on OPP patrolled roads this year. Police say speeding, alcohol or drug impairment, driver inattention or not wearing a seatbelt account for a significant number of the deaths.

Police will be targeting drivers for those issues.

They’ll also be out on the waterways and urge people to wear a lifejacket this weekend.
