Watford’s Blake Verberne made 10 of 11 saves, including stopping a third period penalty shot in just over 32 minutes of action to help the Chatham Maroons beat the Sarnia Legionnaires, 4-3 in overtime in GOJHL preseason action Sunday.
Lambton Jr. Sting grad Xandre Aitken and Petrolia’s Isaac Truman both registered an assist for the Maroons.
Dacian Pillon-Vandenbogaerde had Sarnia’s lone marker in a 6-1 loss to the Nationals in London last Friday.
Sarnia’s plays against London on Sept 4 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. Game time is 6:30 pm.
