Three St. Clair Township food banks are the winners after a charity golf tournament.

St. Clair Fire Chief Richard Boyes told council Oct. 6, CF Industry encouraged the department to revive a charity golf classic this year. It had been suspended since the pandemic in 2021.

This summer’s event raised over $42,000, Boyes said as he thanked CF Industries and the organizing committee for being the “driving force behind the event.”

The department decided to spread the money around to the three food banks which serve the township, St. Andrews in Corunna, The Brigden Food Bank and Sacred Heart Food Bank in Port Lambton. Each will receive $14,000.

“Each of these organizations provides vital support to the families, seniors and individuals across the township. Supporting them is one of the best ways to give back to the community that continues to support the fire department so strongly,” said Boyes.

And he added CF Industry and the organizers generosity “has made a real difference for the families across St. Clair.
