The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is raising its rates for camping again.

People with seasonal campsites across at SCRCA campgrounds such as Lorne C Henderson in Petrolia and Warwick Conservation Area will see a 10 per cent increase in their 2026 fees.

That means a serviced lot will rise from $3,080 a year to $3,380 a year. The rates in 2024 were $2,800.

SCRCA say there is much work that needs to be done at the campsites and the only way to generate the revenue is through increased fees.

Another 10 per cent increase is planned in 2027.

Some members of the board of directors worried continued fee hikes would drive campers away. But General Manager Ken Philips says so far there has no impact on the campgrounds with all operating at capacity. “There hasn’t been a decrease in business.,” he says.
