The puck is set to drop on a new senior hockey season in Petrolia.
The Squires, now a member of the Ontario Elite Hockey League, will entertain the Tavistock Royals Friday at 8:30.
The Royals have already played two games and won them both over Dunnville and Delhi.
After recently signing a large group of returning veterans, Petrolia bolstered its roster by signing two
others in recent days.
Rearguard Ryan Barwitzki had seven assists in 23 regular season and playoff games last season the Tilbury Bluebirds while goaltender Nolan DeKoning won 26 games over the past three seasons with the Alvinston Killer Bees, including an 8-2 mark last year.
As has been the custom in the past, the vast majority of Petrolia’s home games will be on Friday nights at Greenwood. The one outlier this season is a contest against Elora on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
