An Alvinston area family has been forced from their home after a fire.

Brooke Fire Service and Watford fighters were called to a home on Petrolia Line Oct. 31. They worked to salvage part of the home and rescue the animals inside.

The family says a neighbour called 9-1-1 and then went to rescue the family’s dogs.

Photos from the scene show extensive damage to back half of the home. Fire officials have not been available yet to give details of the blaze.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.

The family has been put up by friends in the area.

Highway 402 closed at Watford after accident

Highway 402 eastbound is closed at Nauvoo Road after two tractor trailers collided. A streamer across Lake Huron is dumping the traditional snow belt area with about a foot of snow on the ground around Highway 402 and Arkona Road.
