For the first time in his career, Yarko Zelenchuk will be taking home an OFSAA medal.

The LCCVI student won the bronze medal in boys singles, beating Oscar Taylor 4-1. 4-2 in the bronze medal match on Wednesday afternoon in Newmarket.

Zelenchuk won three consecutive matches to begin the tournament, which advanced him to the semi-finals.

In the semis, he lost a tight three set match to Arthur Han by the score of 4-3, 2-4, 10-7.

Zelenchuk’s loss dropped him down to the consolation side of the bracket where he would need to win two matches to get the bronze medal.

He did exactly that, beating Harley Huibers in three sets in the consolation semi-final before taking out Taylor in the consolation final to take home some hardware.
