Man charged with second degree murder in Port Franks attack

December 2, 2025

A man charged in the murder of a 57-year-old Port Franks woman remains in custody.

Justin Hack has been charged with second degree murder in the death of his mother, Kimberely Hack. He’s also charged with attempted murder and two counts assault with a weapon after neighbours in the Northville retirement park tried to stop the Nov. 29th attack.

Lambton OPP have released little information about the homicide saying only one person was dead, another person was in the hospital with “serious injuries” and another was arrested after a call to Northville Crescent Saturday around 1:40 pm.

A resident, who asked not to be identified, said one of the woman’s neighbours was outside doing yard work when he heard screams. The neighbour ran into the home and tried to subdue the man who had a knife. The neighbour who came to the victim’s aid was stabbed a number of times, the resident said, including in the neck. Another neighbour, a woman, also went into the house to help and was struck by what the resident believed was a broomstick.

The neighbourhood was filled with OPP and paramedics; at one time, the resident said, there were four ambulances and 13 OPP vehicles around the home. Ten to 12 officers were in the area with assault weapons.

It took officers four hours to remove the man from the home and place him under arrest. He appeared in court Monday for a bail hearing where the charges were laid and again Tuesday for a brief appearance.

Next door neighbours say the person in custody is the victim’s son. One resident said the victim had confided in him in the past that her son struggled with mental health issues.
