Heavy rain Sunday may bring flooding says Environment Canada

A YELLOW WEATHER ALERT:

Rain, heavy at times is expected.

The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

What: Total rain and freezing rain amounts 20 to 40 mm with locally up to 50 mm possible. When: Beginning Sunday morning and ending Sunday night.

Additional information: Rain will being Sunday morning becoming heavy at times through the afternoon and evening. Precipitation may begin as freezing rain briefly before changing over to rain with little ice accretion expected. There will be the risk for a few isolated thunderstorms as well for regions across extreme southwestern Ontario and along the Lake Erie shores.

The rain will ease Sunday night.

If possible, clear storm drains of snow and ice. Localized flooding is possible. Some roads may become impassable. Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Avoid low-lying areas. Stay away from rivers, creeks and culverts.
