Mooretown Flags goalie John Chartrand had a strong performance in the Flags net Saturday but it wasn't enough to take down the Essex 73's.

John Chartrand stopped 42 of 44 shots directed his way in Mooretown’s 2-1 loss to the Essex 73’s at the Moore Sports Complex Saturday night.

Essex, the top ranked team in the latest PJHL power rankings, is 33-4-1 on the season.

Dylan Dupuis notched his 20th of the season for the lone goal for the Flags.

Carson Crawford had both goals for the Flags in a 5-2 loss to the Sharks in Wheatley Wednesday night.

Crawford is now tied for fourteenth in the province in PJHL goal scoring with 27.

Owen MacDonald assisted on both goals. The former Sting, Sarnia Legionnaire and Leamington Flyer, now has 16 points in his past nine games.

Ethan Dunbar took the loss with 28 saves.

Mooretown is 19-17-1 and six points up on Dresden for fourth place in the Stobbs Division. The Kings beat the Wild, 10-1 on Walpole Island last Thursday.

Cameron Graham led Dresden with four goals and two helpers while brother Colton had two tallies and three assists.

Mooretown is at Essex on Tuesday night and visits the Kings in Dresden on Friday. The Flags are home to Lakeshore Saturday.
