St. Clair Township hopes to bring in some extra advertising dollars.
Sue Knight, coordinator of parks and recreation, in a report to council outlined an agreement with the Mooretown Flags to share revenue from arena advertising had not been renewed since 2017.
Council agreed to resign the agreement, giving the Flags, minor hockey and the Lady Flags organization, 80 per cent of the revenue they sell. Last year, the groups sold $18,700.
“Arena user groups play an important role in the community, and their fundraising efforts are recognized and valued,” wrote Knight.
She also suggested the township be more intentional and sell advertising in other parts of the arena including offering four advertising spots on centre ice, branding on the steps leading up to the stands and a $15,000 contract branding on the entrances to the arenas over three years.
