Strong Saturday afternoon storm leaves trail of damage along St. Clair River

A fast-moving storm with high winds blew through Lambton County, taking down trees along the St. Clair River Saturday.
Around 2:30 pm, a storm moved quickly across the St. Clair River with strong winds and reports of some hail. From Corunna to Courtright, trees took the brunt the of the damage.
A tree blocked Lyndoch Street at Beckwith Street. Police tape surrounded the area and an OPP officer was there until tree trimmers came by to clear the debris away.
In Mooretown, dozens of trees were damaged, including a large tree on the grounds of the Moore Museum. The facility has closed temporarily to assess the storm damage.
More tree were snapped off in the brief but intense storm in Courtright, where a porta-potty along the river front was also blown over.
At this point, officials are reporting no injuries from the storm.

The Independent West Region OPP officers laid 1,815 charges following 2,107 traffic stops across the region during the Civic Holiday long weekend traffic campaign. The campaign focused on speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving and impaired driving. Police also enforced Ontario’s Move Over Law which gives emergency responders the space they need conduct other work on the roadside.
