Construction on Camlachie golf course condos may begin in 2027

A long-dormant plan for condominium in Camlachie has new life.

LANDx Development officials say they hope to begin construction on the 76-unit project by 2027.

The company came to Plympton-Wyoming council July 27 looking for an extension to a planning agreement reached in 2022, which was about to expire.

The concept plan at Sawmill Creek Golf Course was approved in 2022. Then the ownership of the property changed hands in 2024.

Brendan Graham, the project manager for LANDx, says shortly after Sawmill Creek Holdings hired his company to move the project forward.

Graham told councillors the development will look a bit different.

“Residents will enjoy direct access to the resort’s 18-hole championship golf course, state-of-the-art practice facilities, also a spa, pool, and dining experiences,” he said noting previously council wanted the company to “integrate” the housing into the golf course.

“Some of those key improvements include enhanced amenity spaces, additional visitor parking, and stronger pedestrian connectivity throughout the development. As part of these refinements, the total number of units has actually been reduced from 80 to 76,” Graham said.

He added the intention is put in the services and begin construction in 2027. The second phase will begin when there is enough sanitary sewer capacity in the area.

Some of the concerns in 2022 included a plan to remove bridges over some of the local drains. Graham said those bridges will now stay and another will be constructed.

Plympton-Wyoming agreed to give three-year extension for the project and asked for an update in one year.
