Pipeline problem leads Lambton Shores to ask for water conservation

Lambton Shores is asking residents to conserve water today.

Officials say the water supply to the municipality has been reduce because of an emergency pipeline replacement at the Lake Huron Water Treatment Plant near Grand Bend. The plant supplies water London, Strathroy-Caradoc, Bluewater, Lambton Shores, Lucan Biddulph, Middlesex Centre, North Middlesex and South Huron.

In a social media post, Lambton Shores officials are asking residents to reduce non-essential water use and conserve water where possible. “Please postpone activities that use larger amounts of water, such as doing laundry, watering lawns and gardens, or taking longer showers.”

People in the Grand Bend area may also have lower than normal water pressure until the system is restored.

Lambton Shores has closed municipal splashpads for the day as well as the bulk water stations until the pipeline is repaired.
