Alvinston native Krista DuChene has been inducted into the Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Fame.
DuChene, pictured here with fellow inductees Tom Hawke, Bill Williams and Paul Szczechura, was given the honour Aug. 10.
The marathon runner who attended both Brooke Central School and LCCVI competed for Team Canada at the Olympics in Rio de Janerio in 2016 and won a bronze in the Boston Marathon. Lately she’s been competing in ultra marathons.
“Every appointment, training detail, hour of childcare, and voice of support contributes to an athletes success,” she said after accepting the award.
“From a small-town girl running country roads around our Alvinston farm to the beautiful Brantford and Brant County trails I continue to enjoy today, I am thoroughly blessed by where this sport has taken me. The trials over the years deepened my Christian faith, and the rewards brought me immense pleasure and gratitude,” DuChene said.
