But Hand still wants a seat at the table

Only two candidates are vying to be Point Edward’s next mayor but both are well known after serving on council and multiple committees and boards.
Two-term deputy mayor Greg Grimes and three-term councillor Paul Burgess are each hoping to lead the polls for the top job on election day Oct. 26.
Incumbent mayor Bev Hand’s decision not to run for mayor – but instead go for a position on council – means the mayoral race is heating up.
The village has four council seats being contested by 11 candidates. Hand filed her nomination papers only a day before the deadline. She joins Louis Mele, Patty Yazbeck, Carla Pacheco, Gary Capp, Kristen Simpson, Kevin Devine, Michael Brocklehurst, incumbent Arianna Noctor, Paul Churchill, and Doug Booth.
