Canada border officers seize $38.5 million of cocaine

There has been another big drug seizure at the Bluewater Bridge in Point Edward.
Canada Border Services Agency officers seized about 385 kg of cocaine from a commercial truck on August 13.
The truck was referred for secondary examination, during which border services officers detected and seized the drugs, which according to photos released by border officers, was in cardboard boxes sealed with what appears to be duct tape.
The border officers arrested the driver and the RCMP has charged one person with importing and possession of a cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Their name has not yet been released.
While border services did not release a value of the seizure, the RCMP says each kilo of cocaine seized is valued at $100,000 making this seizure valued at $38.5 million.
The bust comes on the heals of the July announcement of operation which seized over 1.7 tonnes of drugs in with most of it intercepted coming in from the United States at the at the Bluewater Bridge.
In the first three months of this year, Canada Border Service officers have seized over 1500 kilograms of cocaine in Canada.
