Nisbet’s former teams honour fallen hockey player

Before the Mooretown Flags dropped the puck on the first game of the new PJHL season, they stopped to honour Dane Nisbet.
The club opened its season with a game against the North Middlesex Stars where Nisbet had played last season before his death.
Nisbet was murdered during a pub night at Lambton College April 10.
Before the game, the players formed a circle at centre ice and stood in a moment of silence listening to the tribute read by the PA announcer who said that in hockey “life-long bonds, mutual support, and family-like camaraderie are shared among players, teammates, and communities.
“As Canadians, it bonds us on and off the ice in friendship and community that lasts a lifetime.
“Dane was a member of both Mooretown Flags and North Middlesex Stars over the past three seasons,” said the PA announcer.
“Dane was a brother and teammate to many of the young men facing off today.
“Dane played the game hard and lived life to laugh. He will forever be missed, but never forgotten.
“Once a Flag always a Flag.
