Local Special Olympians honoured

Sarnia-Lambton’s Special Olympians where honoured for their accomplishments on the national stage at a party Saturday in Sarnia.
Angie Sauve, Joanna Edwards, James Carpeneto and Noah Pyke, of Special Olympics Sarnia each won gold medals at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta on the weekend.
Edwards and Carpeneto took top spot in the shot put and standing long jump competitions while Pyke won gold in the
10-pin singles bowling event and Sauve was part of the 10-pin bowling championship team.
Edwards also won silver in the relay and bronze medals in the 100-metre final and the long jump and Carpeneto captured bronze in the javelin.
Pyke also won a bronze medal in the 10-pin doubles bowling competition and a bronze in the 10-pin team event.
Sauve earned a bronze in the 10-pin doubles bowling event.

Alvinston arena project on schedule
