NPHL shrinks as Stratford and Halton Hills bow out this season

The Alvinston Killer Bees will not be taking trips to Stratford or Halton Hills during the upcoming Northern Premier Hockey League season.
Following the completion of a league review, the NPHL says the operations of the Irish and Coyotes franchises have been suspended for the coming season and despite the Irish posting that they fully intend on returning to play for the 2027-28 campaign the league says future participation will be subject to its review and written approval.
While not commenting on the specifics of the team suspensions and directing its teams, including the Killer Bees and Strathroy Jets to do likewise, the league says reliable and accountable ownership is essential for the strength and quality of the league.
“As the NPHL prepares for the 2026-27 season and beyond, the league remains committed to strong governance, stable operations and responsible long-term growth,” said the league on social media
