A worker at a Sombra greenhouse was taken to hospital by air ambulance Wednesday morning after crashing through the roof.

St. Clair Township fire officials say the department was called to the Envirofresh Produce greenhouses near CF Industries on the St. Clair Parkway just after 9 am.

Chief Richard Boyes says a man fell about 30 feet while replacing greenhouse roofing material. “As he was
walking up the incline of the roof, he fell through the walkway to the floor inside the facility,” Boyes said in a news release.

Firefighters from Corunna, Courtright, Port Lambton and Wilkesport as well as paramedics were first on scene to help.

The man was airlifted to hospital by Ornge.

Both the OPP and Ministry of Labour are investigating.
