Flyers begin busy stretch with home matchup against Lucan

October 15, 2026

Barry Wright/The Independent

The Petrolia Flyers will be busy over the next two weeks. The Flyers begin a stretch of six games in 11 days when they host the Lucan Irish Thursday night at 7:30.

Petrolia will head out on the road after that to take on the North Middlesex Stars Saturday and follow that with a trip to Port Stanley to take on the Sailors Tuesday night.

The Flyers schedule got busier over the next couple weeks after a date was been set for the Flyers and Exeter Hawks to play a do-over contest after its game last month was halted after two periods due to poor ice conditions in Petrolia. The game will be replayed in its entirety on Sunday, Oct. 25 at Greenwood at 7:30.

Petrolia’s record went to 3-3-1 after splitting a pair of games last weekend.

Ryan Nichols scored his ninth goal of the young PJHL season and Eric McDonald made 39 saves but it wasn’t enough as the Flyers fell 3-1 to the defending Yeck Division champion Bulldogs in Mt. Brydges on Saturday.

Thursday, Nichols, Parker Davidson, Jace McGrail and Isaac Truman all had three points to lead the Flyers to a 7-1 win on home ice against Thamesford.

Nichols and Davidson both scored twice and added an assist, McGrail scored a goal and had two assists while Truman registered a trio of helpers.

Cam Davidson and Lucas Rogers also scored for Petrolia.

McDonald stopped 29 of 30 shots in the Flyers crease.
