The North Lambton Eagles senior girls’ basketball team wants another trip to OFSAA.

This senior team has a lot of familiar faces including Alexis Wice, one of the key players as this cohort of players won SWOSSAA twice and competed at OFSAA.

This year’s senior team has already shown potential, competing in two tournaments in Walkerton and Wallaceburg.

In Walkerton, the team finished with a 3-1 record with its only loss coming against the eventual champions, Woodland
Christian, in a 46-25 game. The Eagles were undefeated at a tournament in Wallaceburg, defeating the LCCVI Lancers
38-32 in the final.

Wice, one of the Eagles’ top scorers, wants to help younger teammates understand plays and positions while maintaining a positive attitude across both the junior and senior teams.

Lanie Rintoul, Kyla Tremaine, Brooklyn Mackenzie and Alexis Wice, are all in their senior year and admit they allhave “mixed emotions” about their last year of high school basketball. But after seeing the team improve throughout the
Walkerton tournament, Wice believes the Eagles have the potential to challenge their opponents this season.

“I’m definitely confident we will challenge any team we play,” Wice said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive attitude.

With a return to OFSAA as a goal, Wice believes the Eagles must continue playing their style of basketball and avoid letting setbacks affect their confidence.

“We should direct our focus towards what we can accomplish rather than what mistakes have happened in the past,” Wice said.
