Jeff Agar will return as St Clair Township Mayor.
He defeated newcomer Bruce Gibson with a margin of 3,625 to 1,114 votes. “It’s it’s mind-boggling,” Agar said of the wait to find out if he won. “Even if you think you’re gonna win, it’s still is because you never know.”
Agar says it was a very long campaign, noting the provincial election campaign is just a little over a month. “When they drop the writ, they got five weeks after that – I’ve been doing this since May. It’s like enough already.”
Joining Agar around the council table will be two new Ward 1 councillors. Tracy Kingston and Alex Machan will join Holly Foster as the area’s representatives. Agar is impressed by Machan.
“He had a lot of good ideas,” Agar says. “Everybody seemed to know him. He has probably more signs than me over there. It was amazing.”
Agar added incumbents Pat Brown and Cathy Langis will be missed around the council table.
Steve Arnold has been acclaimed as deputy mayor. And Brad Langstaff and Bill Myers were also acclaimed.
