Easton Walos of the Sting is one of ten players from the OHL rated as potential first round picks for the National Hockey League draft in 2027.

He was one of five Sting players on NHL Central Scouting’s Players to Watch list released Monday.

The Wisconsin native, who turns 18 in two months, is third in league scoring with 10 goals and 23 points in 15 games.

Cooper McAslan of the Knights is also seen as having first-round potential. He is in the top ten in OHL rookie scoring with four goals and nine points in a dozen games played.

Brennen Lammens is considered an early candidate as a second or third round selection while Sting teammates Kaden Aucoin, Chase Sewell and Jonas Gulbrandsen are seen as possible later round choices.

Knights’ teammates Alex Campeau, Kane Barch, Jake Ritson, Eloan Le Gallic and affiliated goaltender Charlie Weiss are also seen as late round possibilities from the London roster.

Meantime, Corunna’s John McLaughlin of the Windsor Spitfires is rated as a potential second or third round choice, while Sarnia’s Matthew Henderson and Dante D’Andrea of the Kingston Frontenacs are ranked in the later rounds.

Henderson has family ties to Petrolia.

Former Grand Bend resident Jake Murray of the Erie Otters and Otter teammate Broden McArthur also appear on the list as possible late round selections.

Broden is the son of former Sting forward Dustin McArthur.

Sarnia has home games against Erie and the newly-minted number one team in the OHL, the Flint Firebirds on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

The Knights are on a northern Ontario swing with games in North Bay and Sudbury on Thursday and Friday and against the Greyhounds in the Soo Sunday.

Sarnia and London split their home-and-home series last week with each team winning 6-4 on home ice. The Knights also lost 5-1 to the Attack in Owen Sound Saturday.
