Dawn-Euphemia councillors need more information before agreeing to provide water to two homes in Chatham-Kent.
Public Works Superintendent, John Collision, says a Chatham-Kent resident is looking for a water supply after having problems with his well.
Collision says the homeowner has tried several times to drill a new well on his property without success. Another neighbour has also expressed an interest hooking in.
Engineers looked at the project and have determined it would cost up to $85,000 to provide the service – a cost the homeowners would pay.
But there is concern about whether the township should provide water across the border or retain it for future residential and development needs in the township.
“An acceptable boundary agreement with Chatham-Kent, consistent with existing agreements, would be required before proceeding,” he wrote in a report to council.
There are also concerns the move would lower the water pressure for residents nearby.
Council is looking for more information before making a decision.
