It’s a big step forward in the process to form a new regional hockey association.
The Petrolia Minor Hockey Association and the East Lambton Hockey Association say parents have agreed to move forward to form a new joint association which will allow kids to continue to play in local leagues and build stronger ‘A’ centre rep teams.
The plan has been discussed for about two years but over the last week, parents had a chance to vote on the idea. Both associations say parents approved and now they’ll build a plan to put before the Ontario Minor Hockey Association for approval.
“There is still lots of work to be done to get approval with OMHA for the new association,” both East Lambton and Petrolia officials said in a social media post Friday.
It’s not clear how long it would take to get the new, larger association, up and running.
