The Independent wins national recognition

The Independent of Petrolia and Central Lambton has been named a Blue Ribbon Newspaper by the Canadian National Newspaper Association.
A Blue Ribbon award is given in the General Excellence division to any paper in the national competition that deserves recognition for excellence, as determined by the General Excellent judge.
The Independent, which was founded September 2013, competed in the General Excellence Circulation 4,000 to 6,499 division and was one of four newspapers nationwide to be given the Blue Ribbon Award.
The Yellowknifer, Nunavut News/North and The Yukon News were named the top newspapers in the category.
