Public Sector Accountablity List

shows a number of Central Lambton execs

Well over 200 public sector workers in Petrolia and Central Lambton made this year’s Sunshine List.

Since 1996, the province has been publishing the names of public servants who earn more than $100,000. In 2014, more than 111,000 workers made the list, 13,600 more than 2013.

And for the first time, Central Lambton municipal public servants made the list.

Both the CAO for Petrolia, Manny Baron, and the CAO for Plympton-Wyoming, Kyle Pratt, climbed over the magic $100,000 mark. Baron made just over $105,000 in 2014 while Pratt made slightly more than $110,000.

There are five St. Clair Township administrators on the list including former CAO John DeMars, who isn’t working at the township anymore but was being paid for back vacation time. In 2014, he made $120,000. Also on St. Clair’s list, the current CAO John Rodey at over $136,000, Treasurer Charles Quenneville at $114,000, the Public Works Director Larry Burnham at $129,794.

Mayor Steve Arnold says the township’s management is not part of the province’s pension plan and receive money for RRSP contributions.

St. Clair’s director of community services is also on the list at $132,000. Arnold says Gary Hackett’s job classification was changed and he was moved up a pay bracket and paid retroactively.

While a handful of municipal administrators made the list, the majority of the public servants whose salaries were disclosed were at the local school boards. The St. Clair District Catholic School Board had 62 names on the list, including the current director, Daniel Parr at $204,115 and the former director who retired in 2014.

There were 148 people on the Sunshine List from the Lambton-Kent District School Board including the Director of Education Jim Costello who made $205,075 in 2014.

Many of the names on the list posted by the Ministry of Finance on its website are those of principals and vice principals.

And at Bluewater Health, 46 people made the list. Chief of the professional staff and vice president Dr. Mark Taylor tops the list there – and around Lambton County – making just over $330,000. CEO Sue Denomy was close behind with a salary of $300,000.

June 20, 2025

Heather Wright/The Independent Plympton-Wyoming Deputy Mayor Netty McEwen says it doesn’t make sense to spend $20,000 to study a bridge that goes nowhere.
