Sever thunderstorm watch in effect for Sarnia-Lambton

June 5, 2015

2:23 PM EDT Friday 05 June 2015
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Sarnia – Petrolia – Western Lambton County
  • Watford – Pinery Park – Eastern Lambton County

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

A northeast to southwest line of thunderstorms is located over Windsor and moving east at around 40 km/h. Some of the storms in this line may be capable of producing wind gusts to 90 km/h.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isn’t a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
