OPP actions probed after 62-year-old injured in a car chase

The Special Investigations Unit has sent five officers to Warwick Township after 62-year old crashed while being chased by the OPP.
Officials with the SIU – which steps in whenever someone has been injured when police are involved – say around 4:30 Thursday the OPP had a speed trap set up on Confederation Line. The officer say a car driving west over the posted speed limit. The officer began to follow the vehicle which turned onto Sexton Line on the Middlesex-Lambton border. SIU officials say it crashed into a field just north of Zion Line.
Witnesses tell The Independent the car rolled several times.
The driver had to be airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London where he is in critical condition.
The SIU has five officers assigned to the case, three investigators and two forensic investigators.
The SIU is asking anyone who might have information about the accident to call the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 ext. 1898.
