August 12, 2016
St Clair Township Firefighters were part of the international team fighting the fire at the DTE Energy plant in Michigan.
The department had its Tower 22 truck and firefighters on the scene throughout the night after an explosion and fire at the East China power plant around 6:30 pm last night. All the workers at the plant evacuated without injury.
The massive fire required firefighters from Michigan and Ontario to contain it. St. Clair Township Firefighters left the scene at 7 this morning.
Roads in St. Clair Township, Ontario were closed because of the thick, black smoke which drifted across the river. Township officials say those roads are just reopening now.
