Petrolia could save $500K in five years with Y; staffing not clear in proposal
January 19, 2018
Town of Petrolia officials say over half a million dollars could be saved if the YMCA ran The Oil Heritage District Community Centre over the next five years.
The Y says it could be closer to $648,000.
But exactly how those savings are realized isn’t as clear.
On Oct. 25, town council announced it had reached an agreement with the YMCA to put together a proposal to run The Centre. About 75 people attended seven public meetings to hear what the YMCA had to offer and to offer their own opinion about what is good about the town’s recreation facility.
Monday, the Y’s formal proposal to the town was unveiled to a full house at the council chambers.
