Three people lost their lives in a car accident south of Oil Springs.

Oil Springs Firefighters and Lambton paramedics were first on the scene of the accident around 1:30 am Friday morning.

Three people were dead at the scene. The driver, according to sources, was standing at the side of the road when emergency crews arrived and was taken to hospital to be treated.

Police were still on the scene until 2 pm, with Oil Heritage Road between Aberfeldy and Gum Bed Line closed to traffic for over 12 hours. Technical accident investigators were on the scene.

Police photographs posted on social media show the car was heading south and missed the bend in the road, heading into a triangular field between Oil Heritage, Aberfeldy and a short side road leading to Aberfeldy. The four-door sedan’s front end and roof sustained heavy damaged.

Police have not released the identity of the victims yet.
