Provincial parks open Monday for day use

You will be able to head to Pinery Provincial Park after all on the long weekend.

Premier Doug Ford announced Saturday many of the province’s parks will open Monday for day use.

Monday, 520 parks – including Pinery in Lambton Shores – will open. Another 115 will open Friday. Recreational activities will be limited to walking, hiking, biking and birdwatching. Day visitors will also be able to access all parks and conservation reserves for free until the end of the month.  

“I encourage people to get out and enjoy the outdoors, but please do so in a responsible way. Practise physical distancing and follow the rules set out by health care officials to stop the spread of this virus,” says Premier Doug Ford.

All buildings and facilities including washrooms, water taps, campgrounds, backcountry campsites, roofed accommodations, playgrounds, and beaches continue to be closed.

New scholarship program at Great Lakes created in honour of late Sarnia judge

Students in St. Clair Township and Sarnia will be able to apply for a new scholarship program, named in honour of an Ontario Court Justice from Sarnia. Driver taken to hospital after Inwood accident

An Alvinston woman had to be taken to hospital after an accident near Inwood Monday. Lambton OPP have yet to release any details about the crash Monday morning which occurred during foggy conditions. LCCVI on top of girls high school hockey standings

LCCVI moved into a first place tie with Chatham-Kent Secondary School in girls’ high school hockey this week with a 2-1 win over the Golden Hawks in Chatham. The Lancers are 2-0-2 in the south division this season. The regular season wraps up late next week. Playoff dates have yet to be announced.
