Petrolia playgrounds to reopen Saturday
July 21, 2020
Parents rejoice – Petrolia’s playgrounds will reopen Saturday.
It’s one of the services returning as Lambton County enters Stage Three of the province’s reopening plan in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a news release, town officials say “playground equipment in our parks will be fully inspected and deep cleaned prior to re-opening.”
The Petrolia Y – the community centre and pool owned by the town but run by the YMCA – is also able to open under the new guidelines. It will reopen Aug. 21.
The Greenwood Recreation Centre – the arena – will remain closed.
A lot of services will continue as they have for the last couple of weeks. Officials say town hall is still open but people are encouraged to make appointments.
And council meetings “will continue to be held by electronic means,” officials say in a news release.
“At this time, there is no benefit to move to in-person meetings as the video platform allows as many residents to attend meetings, whereas in person meetings would largely limit public from attending due to the physical distancing requirements for Council Chambers.”
