Arson to blame for Petrolia fire, arrest made

OPP have arrested a man in connection with a fire at the Duststop Air Filters factory at the end of July.
The cause of the July 24 fire was not initially known. Firefighters worked until dark to put out the blaze. Damage was done to the building and its equipment, including air filters. Employees had to leave the building during the incident.
Petrolia/North Enniskillen Fire Chief Jay Arns did not rule out arson at the time. He asked anyone with knowledge of the fire to call police.
Wednesday, OPP said they had arrested and charged Jacob Bondy, 40 from Sarnia, was arrested on July 27. He is facing two counts of arson – causing both property damage and a disregard for human life.
