Lambton OPP identify murder victim at Kettle and Stony Point

August 5, 2020

Lambton OPP say Daniel Jordon Oliver is the victim of murder in Kettle and Stony Point.

Saturday the Anishinabek Police Service issued a news release saying he was missing. Friends had last seen him after work early Friday morning. His mother, in a plea for any information about where Oliver might be, said it was unusual for him to leave without taking his cell phone.

Lambton OPP were called in to help with the search but by 1:15pm Sunday, the OPP with the help of the Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit, found a body. Forensic Identification officers were also on the scene.

The Chief of Kettle and Stony Point, Jason Henry, sent condolences to the family of the young man yesterday, before police officially released his name. And he urged members of the community to keep their opinions of what might have happened to themselves and stick to the facts.

And he asked for respect for Oliver’s family’s privacy. “We’re a small community, very closely tied; its things like this that draw us closer together,” says Henry in a video statement.

“I’d ask the community to give the families that are involved their space.”

Henry also asked people from outside the community to respect their privacy and stay off the land at this time.
