Corunna man arrested for second degree murder

Lambton OPP say a 51 year-old Corunna woman is dead and a 51 year old Corunna man has been charged with second degree murder.

In a news release Friday afternoon, OPP said officers were called to Riverside Drive early Dec. 31. They found a woman dead at the scene.

Another person was arrested at the home.

Police have identified the woman as Cheryl Vanhuisen of Corunna.

Shawn Trowbridge, also of Corunna, has been charged with second degree murder. He made a brief court appearance and in is custody.

Police, who are still investigating the death, say the murder was “an isolated incident and there is no concern for the public’s safety.”

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the murder to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
